President’s Lecture

Our President Libby John delivered a lecture at the Gravity Fields scientific extravaganza on 26th September, an event that offered serious lectures relating to Sir Joseph together with instructive yet fun activities such as an interactive globe, and parades through the town of Grantham.

The lecture by our President focussed on Sir Joseph’s research into the natural world and in particular botany.  She also explained the impact of the Endeavour voyage and its legacy. Then she brought this up-to-date, marrying the past with the present by highlighting the desperate shortage of professional botanists in a world where nature is under threat.  Her words were well received by a near capacity audience.
