An Antipodean Arrival

Group of three peopleSir Joseph Banks visited Horncastle and the Sir Joseph Banks Centre on his return from the Endeavour voyage. He greeted residents in the market place and met members of the Society as he strolled round the Banks Tribute Garden. He looked quite magnificent in his Georgian outfit and wig.

Mike Connor, a botanist who is Education Officer of the Wollongong Botanic Garden in Australia was visiting England and decided the Society’s HQ was a must do visit. He was presented with two books published by the Society: Sir Joseph Banks Rooted in Lincolnshire and Sir Joseph Banks Tribute Garden as a memento of his visit. Following his tour of Horncastle he made his way to Revesby to see the place where Sir Joseph spent his youth.
