Joseph Banks Ltd is a Social Enterprise based in the Sir Joseph Banks Centre, Horncastle, Lincolnshire. Its members and directors comprise of representatives from the Sir Joseph Banks Society, Linkage Community Trust and Lincolnshire Community Foundation.
The purposes are twofold. Firstly, to provide training and real work placement opportunities for people who experience disadvantage in the labour market. Secondly through its activities it contributes to the development and growth of the Sir Joseph Banks Society.
Its current activities include exhibition, retail, maintenance, horticulture and crafts. Volunteers from the community together with Linkage staff and trainees run a very successful gift shop and maintain the superb Joseph Banks tribute garden.
The Development of Joseph Banks Ltd Mission:
1. To generate income, the surplus of which is to be used to create employment for people experiencing difficulty in entering the employment market.
2. To further the aims of the Sir Joseph Banks Society.
3. To run the Joseph Banks centre as a sustainable business generating surplus income to cover maintenance and enhancement.
4. To ensure that the building continues to provide useful services to the community of Horncastle and the wider Lincolnshire.
Aims:
To offer a supporting real work environment to people who experience disadvantage in the labour market that furthers their potential towards work and employment.
To offer a range of local historical literature for sale with specific relevance to Joseph Banks, Horncastle, Lincolnshire, and his works overseas.
To create a high profile focal point in the community that offers opportunities for local people to volunteer and participate in the development of Joseph Banks Ltd and the Sir Joseph Banks Society for the benefit of the community.
To offer local craftsmen and other projects that have good quality products they wish to market, a space from which to exhibit and sell their products.
In addition to the above Joseph Banks ltd will provide managed workspace at commercial rent for the use of community groups/social businesses/charities and/or public services.
